I try to take at least one big trip each year. Birding trips are well documented in my blog with photos and narrative. Because I have a lot of trip posts I can't include all on my Travel page. Here I include the slightly out of the ordinary places I have visited as well as information that may be of interest and helpful to others - especially birders.
- Original post February 18, 2009: Town Point: Sad end of an era
- Original post November 22, 2014: New York City: The High Line
- Original post February 10, 2015: Hotel Bougainvillea redux
- Original post February 15, 2015: Miriam's feeders: Fun with birds
- Original post June 10, 2018: From the NYT - this post contains three brief articles with about important birding locations and one about birding landfills.
- Original post June 27, 2023: Private Tour: Travels in South India, COVID-19 and a Coup d'etat
Private Tour: [...] is a tricky one. I have tried to keep it, more or less, hidden. I wrote this essay from and for my own memories. It is definitely about travel, and birding plays a large role in my retelling of the events, so it's a good addition to this page. I may need to pull it if I receive negative comments. To be determined. For now, will add it to my Travel page. Warning: it's a 12,000+ word essay with a couple of additions and is in need of editing. I just haven't had the chance or the will power to take on the editing task. Two years out I'm probably still too close to the events of this trip.
