Belle Isle: there's a Fox Sparrow in here somewhere

On Saturday morning I went to Belle Isle to take photos with Flat Stanley for my 8 year old neice living in Virginia.  In between I snuck in some birding.  On the woodland trail Fox Sparrows (Passerella iliaca) seemed to be everywhere singing and scratching in the leaves.
The above tangle reveals my efforts to photograph one of the many Gold-crowned Kinglets (Regulus satrapa) present ...   unsuccessful, of course.  There were several other photos just like the one above.

And, what about Flat Stanley?  Well, he was pretty useless for birding, but he did pose marvelously for the Detroit skyline.
And Flat Stanley is very happy that the Michigan State Spartans are going to the NCAA final four.
