Dickcissels

Julie Craves, Darrin O'Brien and Jim Fowler recently found several pairs of Dickcissels (Spiza americana) in two different locations in Dearborn.

As Julie writes in an excellent review on her blog Net Results, Dickcissels were last documented in Dearborn over a century ago when Dearborn was a very different place.  Julie kindly used two of my photos in her detailed report which I recommend reading.  Below are two other photos for my blog.

I love Dickcissels, perhaps because whenever I see them, they always seem special.  Thanks to Julie, Darrin and Jim for finding these great birds.
